Hillary ExposedFebruary 29th, 2008Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers a question time. One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his name is. ‘Kenneth.’ ‘And what is your question, Kenneth?’ ‘I have three questions: First - Whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband’s eight years in the office as President? Second - Why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third - Whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?’ Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kids that they will continue after recess. When they resume, Hillary says, ‘Okay, where were we? Oh, that’s right, question time. Who has a question?’ A different little boy puts his hand up. Hillary points to him and asks him what his name is. ‘Larry.’ ‘And what is your question, Larry?’ ‘I have five questions: First - Whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to develop during your husband’ s eight years in the office as President? Second - Why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third - Whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House? Fourth - Why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? Fifth - What happened to Kenneth?
Laura Todd is tired of being dead.February 27th, 2008Because of an eight-year-old error that attached her Social Security number to a dead woman in Florida, the Nashville resident has had to prove over and over again that she is, in fact, alive, WSMV-TV reports. Todd said that being dead off and on makes everyday life difficult. “The IRS says I’m dead,” she told WSMV-TV. “Everybody says I’m dead.” The Internal Revenue Service has twice refused to process Todd’s tax return. She was denied when trying to refinance her house in 2002 because her credit report said she was dead. Her bank closed her credit card account, and even attached a note of sympathy that read, “Please accept our condolences on the death of Laura Todd,” WSMV-TV reports. Todd said it has even gone as far as her health insurance being canceled. The government has assured her that they have deleted her death record, but on Wednesday she was hit with the problem again. The IRS once again rejected her electronic tax return, WSMV-TV reports.
Band of BrothersJanuary 2nd, 2008I was the youngest of three boys. Having two older brothers created a natural security around me. I had protection from bullies, girls that were bigger than me, and snakes. Of course, when they became bored, they found other ways of keeping their interests alive. Sometimes those activities were a bit on the dangerous side. I was always an object of experimentation in their eyes. “Hey, look at that strange looking bug on the sidewalk. I wonder what would happen if we put it in Dwayne’s pants?” or “I’ll give you a dollar if you eat it”. We always had ways of pulling tricks on each other. I guess you could say we were typical youngons. Poor mom. Energy + Motivation + Immaturity can equal Emergency room. The middle brother in my family was particularly courageous. I’m not sure if he was feeling a little hefty in his britches, or if he was just bored one evening. In any event, he was attempting to add a new hole to one of his belts using his brand new pocket knife. One thing led to another, and before he was finished, a big chunk of his finger had managed to get in the way of the process and ended up on the floor next to him and myself. At this point, he calmly said to me, “Why don’t you go see if mom is available, please”. In this case, Energy + Motivation + 2 dollar pocket knife = Emergency Room. Yes, those were fun years. We are all grown up now, and have families of our own. I am grateful to have had older brothers to guide me along when I was young. I look up to them in many ways. Despite the experimentation, they took care of me in many ways. I sometimes wonder how life would have been as an only child. In what ways would I be different? The answer to that question will never be known, but I do know this- It’s good to have people on your side, and it’s good to have family that you can count on in a time of crisis. | ||
